Two frames taken in Brawley, California, on our way out to the Salton Sea. Shot with my Brownie Cresta ii on Kodak Tri-X ISO400 film (leftover roll from my San Francisco trip), accidentally solarized when the roll didn’t wind up tightly in camera, and developed in diluted Xtol developer by Mike Brown (who is also responsible for the diptych idea).
Somehow, everything that went wrong on this roll is what absolutely makes the photo for me, right down to the lettering on the paper backing of the film that bleeds through.
