I spent the first week of March on a boat, cruising from Tampa to Honduras to Belize to Mexico with my family. About two weeks before I left, I was discussing underwater photography with Stacy, futzing about wanting to get photos but not wanting to deal with the expenses and gear for dive photography. Also, I hadn’t been diving in 8 years, so I didn’t want to worry much about the camera when there was so much else that required my attention. She suggested I check out the GoPro HD Hero2. I quickly picked one up, along with a modded housing and a red filter.
I was impressed. The video quality on that tiny camera, even in lower light at 70 feet below the surface, is amazing. I can’t believe this entire rig cost me less than $500. And the still photos from the surface aren’t bad either…
