John Vanderslice played the last show of his tour at the Casbah last Saturday night. In between stories of dropping acid at Convict Lake (above photo is him imitating his mom’s reaction to that story) and running his studio Tiny Telephone, he brought an audience member on stage to accompany a few songs on an Omnichord. More musicians should do “Audience Participation” shows.

For my part, I brought brownies for the band – I should do this more often – and after playing the last few songs of the set out on the smoking patio, we all hung out and enjoyed some dessert. JV is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and one of the best huggers as well. And I love me a good hugger!
