THIS.
2010 has been a lot of things to me, but that’s a subject I’ll touch on in another post.
For this one, just suffice it to say that I am incredibly thankful to be surrounded with family and friends that accept, support, and encourage all sorts of my crazy ideas. From moving to a town where I knew no one 6.5 years ago, to parting ways with grad school and starting a photography business 1.5 years ago, to leaving today on a trip to South Africa that I booked all of 4 days ago. When this post goes live I’ll be flying somewhere in the air between San Diego and Washington, D.C., where I will then continue on to Dakar, Senegal, and finally land in Durban, South Africa. Most people travel home on Thanksgiving. I’m traveling half a world away. But I’m carrying with me love for all the folks in my life, and seeing new things through the experiences that I’ve gained through knowing them. Or, as Dave Eggers put it, “speaking with the dreams of thousands.”
