Calexico, the creators of one of my all-time top five driving albums (Garden Ruin), are finally following that album up with a new one. Carried to Dust will be released on September 9th – the same day that Okkervil River releases The Stand Ins. Oh, that’s gonna be a good day.

I still have not seen these guys in concert – I think they played the Belly Up once seen I’ve lived here, and it was the night that I flew back into town from the East Coast. Unfortunately, the closest their tour will bring them is the Henry Fonda in LA on September 29th. I’m contemplating making the trip up, even though it’s the day before Sigur Ros’ rescheduled TJ date.
