News – Subpop Joins Digital Music Bandwagon

It’s about time. I’ve often been frustrated by trying to find a CD on eMusic, only to find that it was released on SubPop, and thus not part of eMusic’s fairly wide catalog of indie rock albums.

Well, now SubPop’s decided to sell digital downloads without the help of a middleman like eMusic or iTunes. They’re going it alone, selling through their own online store, but taking a cue from eMusic at the same time – if you’ve paid for a download, you can download that song again at any time, without paying for it again. You know, in case your hard drive crashes, or they update the album in any way.
