Photos: Street Scene Day 1

This set was an eye-opener for me. I had previously listened to Deerhunter and just couldn’t get into it. But seeing them live and actually experiencing the droning and intensity of their music made something click in my brain. I’ve listened to Cryptograms a few times since, and it still works for me. This is why I go to live shows – to experience something greater than the recorded music, which then changes the experience when I go back to listen to the recorded material.

Also, the bass player was smoking during the entire set. While I don’t condone it, I have to admit it looked pretty badass.
