I forgot to mention this yesterday during my “live blogging,” but sometimes scientists can be funny. Not often, but sometimes.

This came to my attention while sitting in an otherwise boring talk. The research that was being explained involved finding a new protein that bound to a known protein called “Frat.” Usually these names are acronyms for a characteristic about the protein – I’m not sure what it stands for in this case. Anyway, that’s not the funny part. That comes from the new protein’s name – since it interacts with the “Frat” protein, they called it “Sorority.”

Haha.

Computer issues finally solved, although I have massive updating (programs, etc.) to do to get it back to the functional level it was at before replacing the hard drive. New keyboard and touchpad feel and work great, so I’m happy about that.
