I actually went to this show to see The Constantines, but the lights during their set were so dim that I didn’t get any useful photos. However, I Was a King was a nice surprise as an opener, and they kept the lights fairly bright.

I ended up with a lot of percussionist photos of them, a trend that continued with Crystal Antlers. This is a band that has been getting a lot of buzz lately, but I wasn’t sure how I felt about them. Live, they had an extra percussionist who played the bongos with drumsticks, and he didn’t really fit into the mix too well. However, he was the most energetic member of the band, and definitely made them more fun to watch. Maybe with a better live mix I’d enjoy them more?

The Constantines closed out the night with a really great set that kept me buzzing for an hour or two afterwards. Definitely check them out if you get a chance.
