I wasn’t shooting this show, or attending in any professional capacity. I bought the tickets for D’s birthday, which was a few days earlier, so I was just trying to relax and enjoy the music. But I have to admit, with Jim James’ antics, the closeness of the photo pit to the stage (unlike Coachella), and the great stage lighting, I wish I had asked for a photo pass. Especially when I noticed there was only one photographer in the pit…
The last (and first time) I saw My Morning Jacket was at Coachella this year. They really blew me away, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect – right as the sun was going down on the last day. I was really able to relax and enjoy their set, just like I did this night.
The show was again amazing, and our seats were pretty good. I don’t really have the words to describe Jim James in a live setting – his voice is still ethereal, and the band kicks it up a notch. I can’t really listen to their albums for that long (they get a little too jammy after awhile), but I will take every opportunity available to see this band in a live setting.
D shot some video on his camera, and was nice enough to let me copy the files to post here.
