Show Review: The Muslims, The Carrots @ Casbah, 05/12/2008

Mario was kind enough to put me on the list for this show that The Muslims were recording for a live release.

The Carrots were the first band that I saw that night. They sounded good, but I couldn’t decide whether or not I bought their shtick, or whether it made me think of an expanded Pipettes lineup, but with only one cute girl. Also, I was incredibly distracted by the lead singer’s decision to wear leggings as pants. They are not a substitute. After a few songs, I went into the Atari Lounge to hang out and play some pool.

The Muslims were up next. I absolutely love these guys. Great music – they deserve all the praise they are currently getting – and super nice to boot. There’s nothing I can say about them that I haven’t already said. The crowd was really getting into it, and for a Monday night, that ain’t so bad. Unfortunately, the lights were dim and red, so I had to convert pretty much everything to black and white.
